Floor area density and land uses for efficient district cooling systems in high-density cities

Floor area density and land uses are two fundamental parameters of a city's master plan. Both affect the spatial temporal distribution cooling demand in district. This work studies how floor use impact efficiency district systems high-density cities quantifies using five cost indicators. We street layout plan downtown Singapore to generate hundreds designs by varying Rhino/Grasshopper quasi-Monte Carlo Saltelli sampler. Five independent input variables used for sampling. The three featured residential, office, retail. assess performance each sample an urban energy simulation program tool, City Energy Analyst (CEA). To identify effects design variable on capital operational costs systems, we perform Sobol' sensitivity analysis. find that ratio is most dominant parameter, followed density, whereas has less influence. Urban planners designers may results this study when designing districts serviced systems.
